There are, however, some games that are more generous with their trophies than others and we've gathered together some examples of these to get you started on your point collecting journey.

The Rewards Passes page on the Sony Rewards site shows that 100 Silver Trophies earns you 100 points, 25 Gold Trophies equates to 250 points and ten Platinum Trophies unlocks 1,000 points. Plus, you need to unlock all the silver and gold trophies to earn that game's platinum trophy, so getting those 1,000 points for 10 platinum trophies is going to take some serious grinding.

Silver Trophy: Get 100 Silver Trophies while you game and earn 100 points. You could probably earn a few platinum trophies by the time the holiday sales hit PSN and grab a few digital copies of some great games.

Entertainment and electronics major Sony is currently rolling out a new PlayStation rewards program that is available exclusively in the United States, as of now.

Sony has quietly introduced a new rewards scheme that enables you to make money from unlocking PlayStation Trophies. Maybe you have a plethora of easy games to platinum on hand that will let you earn some quick cash. Xbox Live Rewards' MyVIP program offers reward credits based on the achievements you earn, among other factors. The Xbox 360 came out in 2006 and that system launched with achievements.

When the news first began to spread about the update to the Sony Rewards program, someone pointed it out to Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, on Twitter and he mentioned how it sounds like a cool feature. A nice gesture of appreciation for trophy hoarders, or could Sony have done more?
