Her remarks were prompted by new revelations linking the file to the Democratic Party and the Clinton campaign, Collins, who is a member of the Senate's Intelligence Committee, was emphatic that Hillary Clinton's election campaign manager, John Podesta, and the former head of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Debbie Wasserman Schultz, "absolutely need to be recalled".

'Never seen such Republican ANGER & UNITY as I have concerning the lack of investigation on Clinton made Fake Dossier (now $12,000,000?) the Uranium to Russian Federation deal, plus 33,000 plus deleted Emails, the Comey fix and so much more, ' Trump began. The charges are sealed, and it's unclear who could be charged and for what. The Dems are using this awful (and bad for our country) Witch Hunt for evil politics", Trump said, adding that, meanwhile, the Republicans are "now fighting back like never before. While Schiff called Trump's pardon of Arpaio "a frightful precedent", he said the president's power is not unlimited and can't be used to obstruct justice.

The subpoena is part of the committee's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

The Washington Post was first to report news of the Clinton campaign and the DNC's involvement with Fusion GPS. "There is so much GUILT by Democrats/Clinton, and now the facts are pouring out".

The committee is probing the 2016 dossier, which was compiled by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele after being contracted by Washington firm Fusion GPS. The funding arrangement brokered in the spring of 2016 lasted until right before the election, AP reported earlier this week, citing sources familiar with the matter.

"These investigations were initiated on a partisan basis, and will shed no light on Russia's interference in the 2016 election, but then again they are not meant to do so", Representative Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Tuesday in a statement.

"Collins tells CBS" "Face the Nation" that "it's hard to imagine" that Podesta didn't know about the funding. Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS to conduct the research, according to the report.

Collins, who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the committee is trying to determine whether there was any collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte and House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy announced a probe to address "outstanding questions" about why former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey publicly disclosed the bureau's investigation ofClinton but never disclosed one into Trump's associates in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Democrats have argued that these investigations are meant to distract from the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

On the other hand, it has emerged that the Clinton Foundation made millions from the Russian acquisition of the Uranium One company, which holds rights to 20 percent of US uranium, while Russia was running a campaign of bribery and extortion around the deal; and that several major figures in the Obama administration may have played a role in either supporting it or concealing it from the public.
