Watford players praise manager Marc Silva after victory over Arsenal

With Arsene Wenger's side 1-0 up, second-half substitute Ozil missed a great chance to double Arsenal's advantage but he could only force a comfortable save from Heurelho Gomes.

Marco Silva's Hornets have been one of the surprise packages of the Premier League season to this point, now sitting pretty in 4th in the English top-flight, ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

And Deeney had plenty to say to Arsenal about the manner of their defeat.

The problem, Deeney thinks, is that Arsenal don't fancy it when the going gets tough.

"I've heard Wenger's already saying the penalty is the reason they lost", Deeney told BT Sport.

Troy Deeney scored from the spot in the 71st minute to cancel out Per Mertesacker's opener after Gunners right-back Hector Bellerin was ruled to have fouled Richarlison in the box.

"Having a bit of cojones, I think the word is". "Since the first day we have worked on that idea, and I pass one idea onto my players".

"I nodded it down, the crowd gets up, "yeah we've got somebody who can win it", and they all just backed off".

"Last time I was here I scored a few goals and you get a real buzz but a last-minute victor against Arsenal.it was definitely worth the wait for my goal since I have come back", he added.

'It's ruthlessness. I think it starts from behind them, if they would have missed it when you boys [Martin Keown] were playing, you'd be like "hey, finish that".

"Of course the players know that it is important to have the humility to understand what type of team we'll play against".
