Tom Cruise reveals 'Top Gun 2' to start filming soon

While talking with Australian morning show, Sunrise, Cruise dropped the danger-zone bomb that the movie is going to start filming "in the next year".

"It's true", he said, confirming the long-rumored sequel to the 1986 film as he smiled from ear to ear.

Tom Cruise has finally confirmed that a sequel to the cult action film Top Gun is in the works. According to Cruise, production on Top Gun 2 could begin as soon as next year.

Tom Cruise has certainly never been shy about his interest in a second Top Gun movie.

"It's happening, it's definitely happening".

Kilmer was also asked if the on-screen rivalry between his character Iceman and Cruise's character Maverick was present off-screen as well.

"It's true, it's true", he said, grinning as he added, "I'm going to start filming it probably in the next year".

"Top Gun" producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted a photo with Cruise last week, captioning it as the 31st anniversary of the opening day of "Top Gun". The film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Take My Breath Away" performed by Berlin.
