Einstein Bros.' Caffeinated Bagels Will Give You a Morning Boost

Einstein Bros. bagels, based in Lakewood, announced the creation of the Espresso Buzz Bagel, which contains 32 milligrams of caffeine - about half of what's found in a typical shot of espresso.

According to its site, "Every bite of our Espresso Buzz Bagel gives you a tasty dose of bold flavor, caffeine, and one-of-a-kind benefits".

As if bagels weren't already great enough as is, Einstein Bros. has officially raised the bar by making them caffeinated.

The caffeine is incorporated into the mix with espresso and a coffee-cherry flour, boasts 13 grams of protein from the cocoa in the batter and 6.5mg of iron. Bagels hopes these caffeinated bagels will help get chronic breakfast-skippers to kill two birds with one stone and start their day with grub as well as caffeine.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the mere idea of the Espresso Buzz has elicited strong reactions.

"We have watched the coffee category expand and adapt as Millennials converted to coffee drinkers", Kerry Coyne told Fox News. Bagels, you can drink your coffee and eat it, too. Another, "I love coffee and I love this".

Einstein Bros. Bagels locations in New Jersey include Montclair, Glassboro and Wayne. Then there's the Cherry Chia, which is touted as an excellent source of protein, Omega-3 ALA, and fiber. If they do well, it's likely they'll end up with a permanent place in stores - just look at all the "secret menu" items that have ended up on the regular Starbucks menu.
